Romantic Era - wedding dress
Period: late Romantic, 1840-1850
This Biedermeier dress from the old Russia was reconstructed after an original template of the Hermitage St. Petersburg.
Our creation is made of antique white silk. The cut has been realized true to original. The large strapless collar, which has been gathered and tapers off towards the center, and the short adorned sleeves are distinctive of the Biedermeier period. The rather unusual skirt of this suit, which has been pleated at the front and ruffled at the back, is also precisely based upon the original.
Additionally we designed a removable, 2m (2.2 yards) long train and – corresponding to this – a veil of almost the same length, which has been made of embroidered cotton tulle edged with antique delicate Nottingham lace.
