Habit à la francaise

Period: around 1770

This justacorps – or habit à la francaise as it was called during the second half of the 18th century – with culottes (knee-breeches with front bib) and gilet (waistcoat) was crafted based on an original cut from pigeon blue brocade with the common little patterns of silver and black color found at Rococo men's suits.
It is furnished with a small standing collar and a pigeon blue edging of metal braid. The buttons are hand-covered with the suit cloth. An antique laced-trimmed shirt with jabot and necklet completes the ensemble.
